Pepperdine University's Seaver College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, situated in Malibu, California, invites applications for tenure-track and visiting faculty positions that may be available for the 2014-2015 academic year. Business Administration Division

Chair - Business Administration Division
Seaver College invites applications for an appointment as chair of the Business Administration Division to begin August 1, 2014. The administrative appointment of chair includes a faculty appointment within the division. The Business Administration Division comprises the following majors: accounting, business administration, international business, and a joint baccalaureate/MBA degree with the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University. The Business Administration Division is housed within Seaver College, the undergraduate college at Pepperdine. Applicants must hold an earned doctorate and demonstrate success as a teacher and administrator. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education, a genuine interest in students and teaching, and a dedication to serving undergraduate students. Responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of the division, such as budget management, hiring, class allocation, evaluation of divisional colleagues, and assessment of curricular programs. Communication Division

Advertising – Assistant Professor
The Communication Division invites applications for an entry-level tenure-track appointment in advertising. The successful candidate will be able to teach several courses within our 120-plus student major, including Introduction to Advertising, Advertising Media, Digital Media Strategy, and Advertising Research and Planning. The ability to teach general media courses, such as Storytelling Through Media, Communication Theories, and Communication Research, is preferred. The successful candidate will also serve as a curriculum adviser for advertising student majors, advise the co-curricular Ad Club, and oversee the curriculum component of student internships. Communication - Assistant Professor
The Communication Division invites applications for an entry-level tenure-track appointment in communication. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D.; however, exceptional ABD candidates will be considered. Responsibilities include teaching courses in the communication core of the division (theory, research, and statistics), while contributing to the growth of the division's offerings in one or more areas of expertise: health communication, crisis communication, interpersonal and family communication, science communication, intercultural communication, or other. An emphasis on innovative teaching is highly desirable. A candidate with strong quantitative research skills is preferred, but the candidate should also be familiar with rhetorical, critical, and qualitative research methods. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful applicant will provide academic advising for a cohort of majors within the division and may be involved in advising student groups such as the Pepperdine Communication Association. Media Production - Assistant Professor
The Communication Division invites applications for an entry-level tenure-track appointment in media production. The successful applicant will teach a variety of courses including media history, cinematography, sound and video production, narrative storytelling, television, film, and/or blog production. A Ph.D. is preferred, but candidates with an M.F.A. will be considered. Experience with the use of a variety of media, especially digital and new media, is highly desired. English - Assistant Professor
The Humanities and Teacher Education Division invites applications for an entry-level tenure-track position in English (British Medieval or British Romantic preferred) to begin August 1, 2014. Natural Science Division

Physics – Assistant Professor
The Natural Science Division invites applications for a tenure-track position in physics to begin August 1, 2014. Applicants who have completed a Ph.D. in experimental physics by July, 2014, are desired; however, exceptional applicants with expertise in other areas of physics, biophysics, or bioengineering will be considered. Candidates will have a preference and demonstrated ability for teaching physics to undergraduates majoring in physics as well as to science and non-science majors. Candidates must demonstrate an active commitment to the University's Christian mission. Sports Medicine - Visiting Assistant Professor
The Natural Science Division invites applications for an appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor of Sports Medicine for the 2014-2015 academic year. With successful performance, the appointment may be renewed for subsequent academic years.  Applicants who have completed a Ph.D. in kinesiology, with an emphasis in biomechanics, by July 2014 are desired; however, candidates who have completed a M.S. degree and have prior teaching experience in biomechanics and functional anatomy will be considered.  Candidates must have demonstrated ability for teaching undergraduate coursework in biomechanics, functional anatomy, and human anatomy.  Successful candidates also must demonstrate an active commitment to the university's Christian mission.
