About Modern Languages
The objectives of Modern Languages department include assisting
students in developing an awareness of the importance of language as
a means of international communication, enhancing oral and written
communication, developing an appreciation of the culture, and
understanding better the culture of the United States from a foreign
perspective.
We strongly encourage students interested in studying German,
Italian, or Spanish to attend one of Seaver College's
International Programs in Florence, Italy, Heidelberg, Germany,
Buenos Aires, Argentina, or Madrid, Spain. More complete information
may be found on the International Programs Web site.
Students desiring instruction in Asian languages may do so
through the International Studies and Languages Division's Asian
Studies department. Asian Studies offers courses in
Mandarin Chinese and
Japanese. At this time there is no major or minor in either
language.
Students interested in studying the Biblical languages of Greek
and Hebrew should consult the
Religion Division
