About Modern Languages

The objectives of Modern Languages department include assisting students in developing an awareness of the importance of language as a means of international communication, enhancing oral and written communication, developing an appreciation of the culture, and understanding better the culture of the United States from a foreign perspective.

We strongly encourage students interested in studying German, Italian, or Spanish to attend one of Seaver College's International Programs in Florence, Italy, Heidelberg, Germany, Buenos Aires, Argentina, or Madrid, Spain. More complete information may be found on the International Programs Web site.

Students desiring instruction in Asian languages may do so through the International Studies and Languages Division's Asian Studies department. Asian Studies offers courses in Mandarin Chinese and Japanese. At this time there is no major or minor in either language.

Students interested in studying the Biblical languages of Greek and Hebrew should consult the Religion Division Web site for details on course offerings.
