Notebook Computer Purchase Requirement

If you are planning to major in Accounting, Business Administration, or International Business, please be aware that the Business Administration Division, in an effort to prepare students for the professional marketplace, has adopted a notebook computer requirement for incoming students. Business students will be required to own:

1. A Windows-based wireless notebook computer that meets Pepperdine University's minimum specifications.
2. Microsoft Office 2007 Professional. You must keep your original installation media.

This requirement applies to students entering under or after the 2003/2004 Seaver College catalog, including first-years and transfers.

NOTES:

1. Apple Macintosh computers do not meet our division requirements. This includes MacBooks running Boot Camp, Parallels Desktop, VirtualPC, etc.
2. Pepperdine University and the Business Division strongly recommend Windows XP Professional as your Windows operating system.
3. Office 2007 is available for sale by the university at an incredible academic discount.

Software Requirement

Along with the computer requirement, students must own a copy of Microsoft Office 2007 Professional. Pepperdine's Tech Central sells Office 2007 Pro on-campus at an incredible discount.  As of January 2008, the software is available for student purchase at under $50 + CA sales tax. (Prices subject to change.)

Always keep your original installation media. Some of our classes require additional tools for Microsoft Excel.  Many of the advanced features are not included in the "typical" or default Office installation. If you install with the Typical Install, you can always add these missing features later. You will need your original Microsoft Office installation media so this is why we require students to keep their original installation media in a safe and accessible location and be prepared to bring the media to class if requested.

The Business Division strongly recommends the purchase of a new Dell Latitude D-Series notebook. Dell Latitude computers are available for purchase through a special Dell Premier store for Pepperdine University. For additional information:
