Unite with fellow Waves to make a difference in the Bay Area!

Join us for the fourth annual Alumni Project Serve experience, and add some significance to your next travel adventure.  Pepperdine alumni—along with their families and friends—will travel from all over the country to serve together in San Francisco and Oakland, California.  This two-day "travel with purpose" itinerary is a fantastic way to develop stronger bonds with your family and other alumni while literally helping to feed and put a roof over the heads of families in dire need.

Key Project Information

Dates: February 22-23, 2013
Location: San Francisco & Oakland, California
Itinerary:    

Friday, February 22:

  • 8:00 a.m.: Volunteer welcome and breakfast (Habitat for Humanity project site, 9507 Edes Avenue, Oakland, CA 94603).
  • 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.: "Home build" service project in Oakland through Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley.  Tools, safety gear, and lunch provided at site.
  • 4:00-7:00 p.m.: Free time
  • 7:00-9:30 p.m.: Alumni Project Serve volunteer group dinner at Delancey Street Restaurant (600 Embarcadero, San Francisco, CA 94107).  Learn about this impressive organization HERE.
  • 9:30-11:00 p.m.: Distributing food and food vouchers to homeless on the streets of San Francisco.

Saturday, February 23:

  • 8:45 a.m.-12:00 p.m.: Food assembly and packaging project at the San Francisco Food Bank (Potrero Warehouse, 900 Pennsylvania Ave, San Francisco, CA 94107).
  • 12:00-4:30 p.m.: Free time
  • 4:30-8:30 p.m.: Bay Area Waves Alumni Chapter Hosts Waves Alumni Reception and Pepperdine Basketball game (vs. USF)
    This event is not covered in the Alumni Project Serve fee.

Sunday, February 24:

  • Free Time: Reflection and departures
Cost: $50 - Covers the following:
  • Breakfast on Friday morning (bagels, fruit, coffee, juice)
  • All tools, materials, and safety equipment needed for both service projects
  • Lunch at the project site on Friday
  • Five-course Pepperdine volunteer team dinner at Delancey Street Restaurant (7 p.m. on Friday, 2/22)
  • Pepperdine University "Waves of Service" t-shirt

* Fees above do not include airfare, transportation, overnight accommodations, the Saturday night basketball event, or meals not specifically mentioned above.

* Many of our volunteers will be staying together in the Renaissance San Francisco Stanford Court Hotel.  A discounted rate of $169/night was offered through 2/1, but we would recommend inquiring about the discount despite the passed deadline.  Learn more in FAQs.

Eligibility:

All Pepperdine University alumni, faculty, staff, along with any friends and family ages 16 and up who wish to join!  (Min age only 8 for SF Food Bank shift)

Registration:

The deadline to register is Friday, Feburary 15, 2013 or when all space is filled.  Please reserve your spot early!
