Please help us keep in touch with you by updating your information
with the
Pepperdine University
Alumni Association.
Pepperdine University is
planning to launch a University-wide career support tool for
students and alumni from all five schools. Identifying and
implementing this program will take time. What we want to offer to
you today is an interim tool to build meaningful
relationships and offer career advice/opportunities to those who
need it most. Every attempt will be made to make the transfer to
the upcoming University-wide career support tool as seamless as
possible. As a benefit of your involvement, you will be the first
to know when this new tool will launch!
Opportunities to connect with and assist students include:
“Take a Wave
to Lunch” is a
program that connects students with alumni and friends of Pepperdine
University with the intention of creating a business meeting over a
meal to discuss the student’s career of interest. Alumni and friends
of Pepperdine agree to be contacted by a designated number of
students during a calendar year, which is determined when
registering as a Career Advantage volunteer.
Night 2 Network (formally Career Roundtables)
provide students with the opportunity to gather insight and advice
from successful people in various career fields. These programs are
offered to students during the fall and spring semester. Panelists
are invited to share personal insight about their chosen
profession/career path and to participate in a Q & A session with
the students.
Mock
Interviews are
designed to prepare students for those all-important job and
internship interviews. Interviewers assist in conducting interviews
and providing constructive feedback to student interviewees.
Dinner Guest Speaker Series
is an annual event at which one or two keynote speakers are invited
to provide general career advice/motivation at a dinner attended by
30 students with a variety of majors and career goals.
Job
Shadowing provides students with
the opportunity to shadow a professional in a particular career
field for a few hours and to learn about the professional’s job role
and organization.
Informational Interviews
give students the opportunity to learn about particular companies
and organizations and the various positions available within them.
Students are encouraged to use these interview opportunities to talk
to employers about future positions within the company/organization
and to submit resumes for consideration.
Phone
Interview and/or Career Advisement provides
interested students with the opportunity to connect with alumni or
friends of Pepperdine who are willing to interview and/or speak to
them about a particular career path or profession. Students are
able to gain knowledge into their particular field of interest and
further develop professional interaction with those currently in
that field. |
