Refurbishments Opportunities

STUDENT FOYER
  • Stone Flooring - COMPLETED Sponsored by the Class of '93-'94

Renovation provides, in this high traffic area, a new limestone floor. This stone floor will lighten the dark entry hall creating a warm and inviting entrance. The stone will provide a durable, long lasting and low-maintenance floor, all the while enhancing the “old-world” feel of the haus.

  •  Phone Center - COMPLETED Sponsored by Henry Wolfgang Carter

Renovation provides two attractive wooden partitions, two comfortable chairs, and carpeting for the area. A partition around each pay-phone will provide a place for the students to sit and make calls with privacy. These partitions and the carpeting will help to absorb the loud, distracting sounds in this busy area.

FRÜHSTÜCK ROOM

  • Entertainment Corner - COMPLETED Sponsored by the Class of '81-'82

Renovation provides two sofas, a floor lamp and an area rug in the student “breakfast room”. These additions will provide a comfortable place for students to watch television and videos, listen to music and read.

  • Chairs - $6,000 To be Sponsored by the Classes of '75-'76 & '85-'86

Renovation provides chairs for the long eating tables in this room. Comfortable, sturdy and attractive chairs will enhance the room and provide ample seating for study, playing games and eating.

  •  Floor Replacement - COMPLETED Sponsored by Jared and Natalie Hankins

Renovation provides a new wooden floor for this lovely room. The high traffic in the Frühstück Room has left an irrevocable mark on the floor and it is in need of a facelift!

RECEPTION ROOM

  • Dining Suite - $10,000 COMPLETED but not sponsored

Renovation provides an attractive dining table and chairs, a sideboard and an area rug. An area rug in front of the window will help to define this corner of the room as a dining area. The addition of the dining table and side board will serve many needed functions. First, it will provide the faculty family a place to eat and entertain. In addition it will provide a place to serve for receptions, visiting speakers and guests. It would also provide a place for the students to gather and have their receptions.

  • Window Treatments - COMPLETED Sponsored by the Class of '94-'95

Renovation provides new and attractive treatments for the large bay window area and French doors. This will add beauty and interest to the entire room. Coordinating treatments to the glass panels of the French doors will compliment the window treatment and enhance the room.

LIBRARY

  • Alcove - COMPLETED Sponsored by the Class of '91-'92

Library Alcove sponsors will have this area named in their honor in perpetuity as well as be providing a sofa, ottoman chair, floor lamp & table lamp, area rug and charming window treatment to this area of the Moore Haus Library. This area will be a cozy, warm, inviting “nook” for the students to read, study or visit with one another.

  • Chairs - $4,000 To be Sponsored by the class of '95-'96

Renovation provides attractive, comfortable, wooden chairs to compliment the long library tables already present in the Moore Haus Library.

FACULTY SUITE

  • Bedroom -  COMPLETED Sponsored by Jared and Natalie Hankins

Renovation provides attractive and beautiful furniture overhaul for the bedroom. Much-needed shelving will be built along with the addition of an area rug, table lamps and draperies. Existing furniture will be given a face-lift of sorts with an “old world” charm. Pictures and a tapestry will be added to the décor of this room to make the visiting faculty feel at home.

  • Kitchen -  $12,000 COMPLETED but not sponsored

Renovation provides much-needed cabinetry space and additional floor space with a new “pull-down” kitchen table. Space to be utilized is almost doubled with the innovative redesign of the existing appliances in the kitchen.

  • Living Room- COMPLETED Sponsored by the Class of '82-'83

Restoration provides attractive, comfortable, new fabrics and coordinating colors for the living space. New draperies, additional cabinets and shelving, decorative pictures, reading lamps and area rugs will be added to the existing furniture. A new screen will hide an exposed bathroom mirror and sink and give privacy.

Room sponsors will have their names located on an attractive plaque at the door of the furnished room.
