2008 10-Year Florence/Whatley Reunion Celebration


Dear Florence Alumni,

On August 16th, 2008, Friends of Frienze will be hosting an event on the Malibu Campus to reunite the last 10 years of Florence alumni and to honor Elizabeth Whatley for her ten years of service to the Pepperdine University Florence overseas program! We would love for all of you to be there to reconnect and reminisce with your Florence classmates while showing Elizabeth how much you appreciate her dedication and hard work! RSVP by e-mailing Dawn Pettersen at or Delia Midamba at .  Please join us!  The cost is $10.00 per person.  Your $10.00 will help cover the cost of the event and a gift for Elizabeth (you may give toward Elizabeth's gift even if you are unable to attend).  Payment can be made over the phone with a credit card or you can mail a check to the address below.  We look forward to seeing you!

Location: Weisman Museum, Malibu Campus

2006 Founding Members Luncheon


Friends of Firenze members celebrated a milestone year for the Florence international program with a festive luncheon held at Helen Young's house. The luncheon celebrated the two decades of growth in the Florence program, and the 10th anniversary of the restored Villa Di Loreto and Residenza Tagliaferri.

Current Seaver College students who benefited from the Friends of Firenze scholarships spoke about their experiences and memories of Florence, giving a first-hand account of the work of Friends of Firenze.

The Consul General of Italy, Honorable Diego Brasioli, was also in attendance to present the Cavaliere Award to Paola Lorenzi, an assistant professor of Italian at Pepperdine. She received the award for her outstanding role in promoting Italian culture to Pepperdine students as well as her continued efforts to promote commerce and partnership with Italy.

Friends of Firenze members have been instrumental in the Florence program's growth and vitality through the creation of student scholarships and aid to restoration needs.
