Pepperdine University's Seaver College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, situated in Malibu, California, invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions that may be available for the 2008-2009 academic year. All successful candidates will have a Ph.D. or equivalent, a preference for undergraduate teaching, a research agenda, and an active commitment to Seaver College's Christian mission. COMMUNICATION DIVISION
Adjunct Instructor
– Public Speaking and Rhetorical Analysis (COM 180) course. This course includes the study of rhetorical theory as well as a thorough range of public speaking experience. Job description for adjunct instructors includes teaching one or two sections of the course, availability for students appropriate for the teaching load, and adherence to the Master Syllabus for the course. Currently, COM 180 courses are standardized in using the most recent edition of the “Osborn and Osborn” textbook. Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Communication (required) and an active commitment to Seaver College’s Christian mission. Applicants for the positions listed below should send a curriculum vitae, three references, an official transcript of Master’s degree, a statement of teaching philosophy, and a statement indicating how the candidate will support the Christian mission of the University. Preference may be given to applicants with prior teaching experience. A reference check and a standardized background check will be conducted for all employees before issuing initial contracts. HUMANITIES / TEACHER EDUCATION DIVISION
Education – Visiting Instructor of Education. The Teacher Education Program seeks an outstanding individual for work in teaching and administration in the program for the 2008-2009 academic year. Fall employment will be a .75 employment position (12 units); spring employment will be a full time position (16 units). Fall semester duties include teaching one course, serving as student teaching placement coordinator, program event support, assisting with program assessment and accreditation, attending and participating in program faculty meetings, and assisting the credential analyst and liberal arts advisor. Spring semester duties include teaching one course, serving as student teaching placement coordinator, program event support, assisting with program assessment and accreditation, attending and participating in program faculty meetings, and serving as credential analyst and liberal arts advisor/director. Qualifications: Master’s degree in education, teaching credential, experience teaching in K-12 schools, experience working in a teacher preparation program, a preference for undergraduate teaching, and an active commitment to Seaver College's Christian mission.
